Greater Danbury Bar Association, Inc.
The Greater Danbury Bar Association is a professional organization of Attorneys in
good standing in the Bar of the State of CT who reside in or maintain an office for
the practice of law in the municipalities of Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New
Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield or Sherman, Connecticut.
Our shared goals are to promote professional camaraderie and collegiality among the bench and bar; facilitate a just and accessible legal system for the residents of the Greater Danbury area; and provide valuable services and benefits to our members and to the entire community.
The GDBA holds regular events and membership meetings which enable attorneys to access quality educational opportunities, network with members of the legal community, and discuss emerging legal issues. All of our programs and events are developed to assist the members of the GDBA in improving their practice of law and to better serve our community.
History
The GDBA has roots which run deep in the Western Connecticut legal community. From its earliest beginnings as an informal group of lawyers, meeting to discuss local issues and topics in the earlier part of the 20th century, the Greater Danbury Bar Association has now grown to an active and robust organization, with over 100 members who practice and live in the Greater Danbury area. It has four active officers who comprise its board of directors, and a steady membership base which grows each year.
Mission Statement
As stated in our Bylaws, The Greater Danbury Bar Association’s Mission Statement is as follows:
“Serving the public interest by cultivating the science of jurisprudence, promoting reform in the law, facilitating the administration of justice, fostering respect of the law, advancing the standing of the legal profession, preserving high standards of integrity, honor and professional courtesy among lawyers, establishing a close relationship among lawyers, and cooperating with other bar associations, other legal organizations, locally, nationally and internationally, in furtherance of the aforementioned purposes.”
